Dr.-Ing. Peter Schmöle
Peter Schmöle, born December 6, 1950, had his studies for metallurgical science at the Technical University Clausthal, Germany. After scientific activities in the field of steelmaking thermodynamics he got the Dr.-Ing. degree in 1983.
He started his industrial career with Hoesch AG in Dortmund at first in the steelmaking sector. Starting 1986 he took over various responsibilities in the sinter and hot metal production. Since 1989 he was general manager of the hot metal and energy division of the Hoesch and later on Krupp Hoesch works, Dortmund. After the merger of the steel companies Thyssen and Krupp Hoesch in 1997 he changed over to the today’s thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG, Duisburg, as head of technology of the hot metal division. Since April 2012 Peter Schmöle is responsible for the Competence Centre Metallurgy.
Schmöle is member of a lot of national and international committees of the iron and steel industry. The results of his professional activities are reflected in numerous publications and presentations especially in the fields of hot metal and steel production. February 2012 he was assigned as professor at the Technical University RWTH Aachen.
