Dr. Prof. Tianjun Yang
Prof. Tianjun Yang is currently the vice chairman of supervisory board of the Chinese Society for Metals (CSM) and the director-general of the ironmaking branch of CSM.
Professor Yang specialized in process metallurgy for more than 40 years, obtaining his PhD degree in 1985 from Technical University of Aachen (RWTH Aachen) under the support of prestigious fellowship of Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation (AVH). He obtained his MEng degree in 1981 and bachelor degree in 1965 from the University of Science & Technology Beijing (USTB).
Prof. Yang worked in Anshan Iron and Steel Company as a technical engineer during 1965-1978 after obtaining his bachelor degree. He has been working in USTB as assistant professor, associate professor and full professor since obtaining his PhD degree from RWTH Aachen in 1986. He was appointed as the university president on May 25, 1993 and kept this position till Jun 30, 2004.
Prof. Yang is a worldly recognized scientist in metallurgical engineering, especially in ironmaking. His main research interests include new ironmaking technologies, high efficient utilization of energy and resources and processing control of metallurgical process. He has made many significant contributions and obtained more than 10 Tech Awards. Till now, he has published 8 books and more 100 papers in international journals. He has supervised more than 40 PhD students.
